YouCantBeatZero opened in February of 2011. High productivity practice that seemed to have revenue generation as its sole purpose was tiresome and I thought it might be possible to get back to healing and caring by stripping an office down to its essential components.
Using information technology to manage the (incredibly burdensome and health care dollar-consuming) insurance billing and reporting requirements allowed me to severely cut back on practice expenses, which in turn made it possible for me to spend the time necessary to really get to know the people for whom I work.
Because we’re lucky enough to work with experts in health care improvement, we have been able to test new approaches in practice that allow us to deliver very good care while maintaining a vital and sustainable practice.
This work has lead a number of other physicians to explore similar solutions in their own settings, and this growing cadre has become the Ideal Medical Practices project.
